Student projects 2017

During the summer of 2017, Andrea Diaz and Thomas Blum cataloged the aberrations in stripe patterns of striped bass that form a  resident population in Eel Pond, Woods Hole, MA.  Under the direction of Andrea, Thomas and Sarah Kerr, students then used the catalog to identify individual fishes during July and August.

The Field Ecology course from Lincoln School, Providence, R.I. visited the Marine Biological Laboratory in the Fall. Prior to their visit, students chose topics from stripedbassmagic.org and then came to the MBL to collect data and visit with scientists. Under the guidance of their teacher, Ann Lovely, seniors Nicole Hamilton, Tyrol Han, Grace Harden, Corina Matrone, Kat Sheridan and Emma Vieten developed striped bass Lesson Plans on Human Impact, Migration, and Non-invasive identification.
